In January, 2010 our 3 ½ year old chocolate Labrador, Kilo, was hit by a truck. He received extensive injuries and required several days in an intensive care veterinary hospital. Although his many injuries eventually healed, the blow to the nerve center in his right front shoulder left his paw useless. It was suggested at one point that his leg be amputated. We were against having radical surgery and began to explore other alternatives. Kilo was becoming more and more despondent as he was unable to walk, run, play or swim. One of the options we had was to hook up with Jeff and his incredible team via our rehabilitave specialist. In July of 2010 we received a custom made rigid brace constructed by Jeff. Upon fitting it on Kilo's leg he immediately sat up and was off and running with his best friend. Although still paralysed in his lower limb, it IS getting better and the upper and middle part of the leg is becoming stronger. It is still early in the recovery and who knows what will happen. Jeff has worked very hard with us to find an alternative and we seem to have been very successful. Kilo even had an incredible swim effort this summer and to our amazement didn't miss a beat. Many thanks to Jeff and the K9-team. Through his efforts Kilo has been given a new lease on life.
