Our super large goofy standard poodle, Bailey "Badboy" James lost his left hind paw 3 years ago in an unfortunate accident. For more than a year, his heavily bandaged stump was constantly monitored but abrasions would form and bleed if Bailey tried to run or put too much pressure on the stump. Being less than 2 years old it was a huge blow to his confidence to be restricted to the home back yard. He was eventually fitted with a custom-made leg brace by Jeff Collins of K-9 Orthotics. After minor adjustments, the permanent leg-brace has given Bailey effective independence. He now, with the exception of vigorous execise, leads the life of a normal active dog without pain and discomfort. He likes chasing after birds in the back garden, climbing up and down stairs without difficulty, and moves around without realizing that he has a leg- brace instead of a left hind paw. The leg-brace is light, durable and relatively easy to put on or take off. It's hilarious seeing him try to scratch his ear with it. The leg-brace has restored even weight distribution between all his legs which is important for such a large and leggy dog. From the owners' perspective, Jeff and his team at K-9 Orthotics have been a great source of knowledge and help to our much loved "Badboy". We would strongly recommend K-9 Orthotics to anyone who has a pet that needs help with orthotics or prosthetics.
