When it was first suggested to me that Jessie get braces, I was a little shocked as I had never heard of that before. Jessie was already receiving physio at the Edmonton Veterinary Rehabilitation Clinic for severe arthritis in her hips and this was helping her with the pain. The problem was that her front legs had extended out because she
had been throwing her weight forward off her sore hips for so long. The braces would strengthen and straighten her legs so she could walk again. All I wanted was for her to spend the last few years of her life pain free and walking as a dog should. The braces were ordered and it took many weeks of slowly introducing them to her and making an adjustment on the fit. She was a stubborn girl, but eventually got to the point where she almost forgot she was wearing them. Unfortunately, Jessie got sick and even though the EVRC did everything they could, Jessie passed away in July. I wish I had known about the option of braces earlier, I certainly would have acted on it. K-9 was so very helpful, what a wonderful service for pets and their owners. I will be talking about them for as long as I talk about Jessie.
Thank you Jeff, for your compassion, your concern, and for your love of our pets.
